To make a difference in our lives we need to stay connected to the Holy Spirit and receive that extra special quality that comes from the Lord.\u201d<br><\/em><br>Stella<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Worship<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"O Thou Who Camest from Above (Tune: Hereford - 4vv) [with lyrics for congregations]\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IJ6pmSEzJ5A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.<\/p>\n<cite>Gal. 5:16<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walking in the new way of the Spirit is a big subject that in fact refers to our whole Christian life. How do we do it? Well, it is not a deeply mystical matter rather one of putting into practice the basics of the faith:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>(1) Realise that we always have the Holy Spirit in us<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All believers receive the Holy Spirit at their new birth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus replied, <em>\u201cVery truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.\u201d \u201cHow can someone be born when they are old?\u201d<\/em> Nicodemus asked. <em>\u201cSurely they cannot enter a second time into their mother\u2019s womb to be born!\u201d<\/em> Jesus answered, <em>\u201cVery truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of \u2026 the Spirit \u2026 the Spirit gives birth to spirit \u2026 You must be born again [born from above; born of the Spirit].\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>John 3:3-7<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>(2) Learn to recognise the voice of the Holy Spirit<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Again this is something that is basic to our faith in Jesus Christ because the voice of the Spirit will never contradict the Word of Scripture. The Holy Spirit is the one who has inspired the people who have written the Scriptures,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another\u2014showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God\u2019s way.<\/p>\n<cite>2 Tim. 3:16<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So we cannot claim that the Spirit spoke to us if it contradicts the Scripture. The main way that the Spirit speaks to us is through the Scriptures!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>(3) Obey what He tells us <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christians get messed up when they start to disobey the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But don\u2019t just listen to God\u2019s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.<\/p>\n<cite>James 1:22<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>(4) Spend quality time with Him<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Often when we close a worship service we say what has become known as \u201cThe Grace\u201d, based on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.<\/p>\n<cite>2 Corinthians 13:14<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is how \u2018The Message\u2019 translates it: <em>\u201cThe amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ; the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.\u201d<\/em> &nbsp;The Holy Spirit is our intimate friend and we should spend quality time with Him and the more we do so the more we will learn to discern His voice, His leading, His guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>(5) Spend quality time with His people<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another \u2013 and all the more as you see the Day approaching.<\/p>\n<cite>Hebrews 10:24-25 &nbsp;<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am strengthened and encouraged after meeting up with God\u2019s people. Jesus said where two or three gather in His Name He is there in the midst meaning by the Spirit. So let\u2019s not give up meeting with one another and the Holy Spirit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Conclusion \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As we put these and other basics of the faith into practice we will find we are growing stronger in the faith and this will help us to walk in the Spirit and not fulfil the lust of the old nature, Amen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quote of the week<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#f8e9c8\"><em>\u201cTrying to do the Lord\u2019s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting and tedious of all work.
