autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cPraise the Lord\u201d \u2013 <\/strong>There are many who have testified to how things changed once they started praising the Lord. The classic example in the Scriptures is found here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, <em>\u201cA vast army&nbsp;is coming against you from Edom \u2026 It is already in \u2026 En Gedi&#8221;<\/em>. Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the&nbsp;Lord, and he proclaimed a fast&nbsp;for all Judah.&nbsp;The people of Judah&nbsp;came together to seek help from the&nbsp;Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.<\/p>\n<cite>2 Chron 20:2-4<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Word that came from the Lord, during this prayer time was through Jahaziel, one of the prophets,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;says to you: \u2018Do not be afraid or discouraged&nbsp;because of this vast army. For the battle&nbsp;is not yours, but God\u2019s.&nbsp;Tomorrow march down against them.<\/p>\n<cite>2 Chron 20:15-16<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The solution and result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;and to praise Him for the splendour of His holiness&nbsp;as they went out at the head of the army, saying: <em>\u201cGive thanks to the&nbsp;Lord, for His love endures forever.\u201d<\/em> <strong>As they began to sing and praise, the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;set ambushes&nbsp;against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<cite>2 Chron 20:21-22<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have looked on previous occasions at the change that came about in Habakkuk as a result of him hearing the word of the Lord, that one day &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230; the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. .<\/p>\n<cite>Habakkuk 2:14<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He went from being one who had many complaints against the Lord, one who appeared utterly forlorn and defeated (Habakkuk 1:2-4; 1:12-2:1) to one who resolves to praise and worship Him whatever the outcome,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, <strong>yet I will rejoice in the&nbsp;Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The Sovereign&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<cite>Habakkuk 3:17-19<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately we should praise the Lord for who He is first and foremost, and not for what we can get out of Him, or for what He can do for us. A great example of this is found in Acts where Paul and Silas have been dragged by the mob, severely beaten with rods and then imprisoned in an inner cell with their feet securely fastened in the stocks, Acts 16:16-24. Their response to the Lord for whom they were suffering,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About midnight&nbsp;Paul and Silas&nbsp;were <strong>praying and singing hymns&nbsp;to God<\/strong>, and the other prisoners were listening to them.<\/p>\n<cite>Acts 16:25<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look what happened next!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken.&nbsp;At once all the prison doors flew open,&nbsp;and everyone\u2019s chains came loose.<\/p>\n<cite>Acts 16:26<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How different life would be if we were all people who first and foremost praised the Lord in all things, so Father, help us by Your Spirit, in Jesus Name, Amen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quote of the week<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cIt is&nbsp; a heresy of our times to divide life into sacred and secular.
