If we could start each day with this deeply imprinted on our hearts how different life would be for so many of us.

Paul emphasises in Romans that God loved us while we were still sinners, even His enemies:

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us … For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life.
Romans 5:8, 10

This is repeatedly confirmed in Scriptures e.g.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:1-5

And this love is not just before we were saved (past), or even while we are being saved (present),

God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 5:5

But it is an eternal love, a love that is for ever, and ever, e.g.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?… No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
