autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please read: <\/strong>Philippians 2:1-11<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Let this <strong>mind <\/strong>be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.<\/p><cite>Phil. 2:5<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Humility<\/strong>: Jesus\u2019 greatest example of humility was His total dependence on His heavenly Father, whilst here on earth,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Jesus gave them this answer:&nbsp;<em>\u201cVery truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself;&nbsp;He can do only what he sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.\u201d<\/em><\/p><cite>John 5:19<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The essence of original sin was Adam and Eve acting independently of God, doing their own thing as instigated by the devil Himself. Jesus, at every step reversed this by doing the will of His Father in heaven, such is what filled His mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus grew up the son of a carpenter and learned his father\u2019s trade. He would have watched everything his father did as a carpenter, and listened to all his father taught Him. This was also how He related to His heavenly Father, an ongoing communion in His heart and mind. We see this supremely in His prayer in Gethsemane:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed,&nbsp;\u201cMy Father, if it is possible, may this cup&nbsp;be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.\u201d<\/p><cite>Matt. 26:39<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This is in line with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Trust in the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;with all your heart and lean not on your own <strong>insight or understanding<\/strong>; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.<\/p><cite>Proverbs 3:5-6<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The mind is so important in our response to God or lack of response,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This is why I speak to them in parables: <em>&#8220;Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or <strong>understand<\/strong>&#8220;. <\/em>In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: <em>\u201cYou will be ever hearing but never <strong>understanding<\/strong>; you will be ever seeing but never <strong>perceiving<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p><cite>Matt. 13:13-14:<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthew substituted mind for the word strength in the first and greatest commandment,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Love the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.<\/p><cite>Deut. 6:5<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>cf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Jesus replied:&nbsp;<em>\u201cLove the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your <strong>mind<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p><cite>Matt. 22:37<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark and Luke add it to the original text, Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27 all of them emphasising what Jesus emphasised that the right use of the mind was very important in our relationship and worship of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quote of the week<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f8e9c8\"><em>\u201cBefore one can walk as Christ walked, and talk as He talked; one must first begin to think as Christ thought\u201d<br><\/em><br>A. Allen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verse<\/strong><strong> of the week<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do,<strong> in the futility of their thinking<\/strong>. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.<br><br>That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in Him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.&nbsp;You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; <strong>to be made new in the attitude of your minds<\/strong>; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. <\/p><cite>Ephesians 4:20-24<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Let\u2019s Pray<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord heavenly Father, help us to have the mind of Christ so that this will be evident in in all we do, say, and think, in Jesus Christ\u2019s Name, Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This service is only available in text format.
