It all came to a head when she met a Christian whom she shared with about 4 problem areas in her life. The Christian told her she needed God and to seriously pray to Him, which she did. The next day the 4 areas were resolved and she was filled with a deep peace.<\/em><br><br>See Premier magazine for more<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Worship<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"698 Remember Mercy {Brian Doerksen}\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9PzMRb2ELtM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reading: <\/strong>Romans 1:18-32<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The wrath of God is being revealed.<\/p><cite>Romans 1:18<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are two revelations referred to in Romans chapter 1, that of the righteousness of God (Rom 1:17), and that of the wrath of God (Rom 1:18). It\u2019s important in understanding \u2018the wrath of God\u2019 that we don\u2019t impose on it our thinking about human wrath and anger. God is not an angry God, for God is love, but His wrath is a response to human evil, to human contempt towards Him and to the rejection of His love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike ourselves, God doesn\u2019t cease to be loving when revealing His wrath: God is love, period, and when He reveals His wrath, it is His response to human evil. In this passage rather than seeing an unrighteous wrath, that is selfish, irrational, uncontrollable, revengeful, we see God\u2019s righteous wrath, e.g. giving people over to their own sinful desires. Three times we read that humanity <em>\u201cexchanged\u201d<\/em> and three times we read of God\u2019s response <em>\u201cTherefore, God gave them over\u201d<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>They <strong>exchanged<\/strong> the glory of the immortal God for images \u2026<\/p><cite>Rom 1:23<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Therefore <strong>God gave them over<\/strong> in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity \u2026<\/p><cite>Rom 1:24<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>They <strong>exchanged<\/strong> the truth about God for a lie \u2026\u201d; Rom 1:26: \u201cBecause of this <strong>God gave them over<\/strong> to shameful lusts.<\/p><cite>Rom 1:25<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Even their women <strong>exchanged<\/strong> natural sexual relations for unnatural ones \u2026<\/p><cite>Rom 1:26<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>so <strong>God gave them over<\/strong> to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.<\/p><cite>Rom 1:28<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#f8e9c8\"><em>\u201cThat which is a cause of wrath becomes its effect \u2026 Here cause and effect are one and the same.\u201d<br><\/em><br>G. Stahlin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People are knowingly and deliberately suppressing the truth by their wickedness and as such they are without excuse because God has made things plain to them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and unrighteousness of people, <strong>who suppress the truth by their unrightousness<\/strong>, since <strong>what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.<\/strong> For since the creation of the world God\u2019s invisible qualities&nbsp;\u2013 His eternal power and divine nature&nbsp;\u2013 <strong>have been clearly seen<\/strong>, being understood from what has been made, so that <strong>people are without excuse<\/strong>.<\/p><cite>Romans 1:18-20<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we shall see, God\u2019s love and righteousness go hand in hand, and His righteous judgment is synonymous with His wrath in e.g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God\u2019s wrath, when His righteous judgment will be revealed.<\/p><cite>Rom. 2:5<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Far better to learn from God\u2019s righteous wrath now than on the Day of Judgment!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Questions for Discussion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Do you find the wrath of God an embarrassing subject?<\/li><li>Do you find the wrath of God something you delight in \u2013 \u2018Let them have it!\u2019 so to speak?<\/li><li>How do we understand the wrath of God as God giving people over to their sinful ways?<\/li><li>In what way might the wrath of God be redemptive?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quote of the week<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe \u2018revelation of wrath\u2019 relentlessly exposes the awful truth that the human race constantly attempts to suppress &#8230; the true nature of its relationships\u201d (R. Jewett).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Verse of week<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds,&nbsp;Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.<\/p><cite>Habakkuk 3:2<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Let\u2019s Pray<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our gracious, loving heavenly Father, Your ways are past finding out and Your thoughts and ways are higher than ours. Again, we ask for understanding of that which You have revealed in Scripture.
